About the ARTIST

Gill Aysegul Birol is an award winning graphic artist. She is currently combining line, space and texture in enchanting contemporary jewellery.

Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Gill earned a BA in Applied Fine Arts from Marmara University of Istanbul. For over a decade she has been polishing her creativity as a jewellery designer on three continents.

She's collected the ancient and fused it with the contemporary. She brings forth unique, wearable art forms.

On her designing palette are fine gems, semiprecious stones, together with organic and industrial materials, such as spices mixed with epoxy.

Gill achieved an inspiring career as the Creative Director of Link Multimedia, an internationally acclaimed digital video production corporation. Simultaneously, she worked to define her contemporary style within the classic rhythms which surrounded her life in Asia Minor.

Her ultimate passion as an artist was Jewellery design. This aspiration became a reality after relocating to Massachusetts, in 1997. She now resides in Toronto where she has found the creative oasis of her dreams.

She is extremely fond of the community she calls "home". She has taken strides to get in step with the Toronto pace, in civic and artistic life.

One may find the dynamic dervish Gill, dancing Beach Studio Tour, in turn whirling to volunteer for TURKUAZ TV production.

Gill is newly inspired by this creative atmosphere. The Canadian environment is contributing to her very contemporary and upbeat art.

Gill proudly concludes, My creative style is constantly evolving as is life in Canada...

Like the seasons and the waves upon Beaches, no two pieces are the same... Uncovering the satisfyingly asymmetrical aspects of nature in the north... Discovering and working with new materials, is my daily inspiration...
